Gain the skills you need to run your Emergency Department through interactive workshops and seminars!

Join us in the Leadership Essentials Course and explore the latest challenges and solutions in emergency care! Together with ED leaders from around the world, you will gain invaluable training for improving your Emergency Department.

The original course at IEDLI, Leadership Essentials includes over 35 hours of interactive, in-person seminars and workshops. Participants work in assigned groups with other emergency department professionals to complete activities, discuss lectures, and share experiences from their own EDs around the world.

“The IEDLI Leadership Essentials (LE) Course, Amsterdam, Netherlands 04/11/2024 – 08/11/2024, has been accredited by the European Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (EACCME®) with 29.5 European CME credits (ECMEC®s). Each medical specialist should claim only those hours of credit that he/she actually spent in the educational activity.”


“Through an agreement between the Union Européenne des Médecins Spécialistes and the American Medical Association, physicians may convert EACCME® credits to an equivalent number of AMA PRA Category 1 CreditsTM. What Topics are Covered?

In the Leadership Essentials Course, participants will learn to:

  • Establish the ED’s role within the hospital
  • Improve efficiency and control costs
  • Decrease overcrowding
  • Develop quality improvement programs
  • Educate and motivate a new generation of emergency physicians and nurses
  • Form a strong administrative structure

The topics included in the Leadership Essentials Course are subject to change and are updated based on feedback from course participants and faculty.

Who Should Participate?

This program is designed for physicians, nurses, and hospital administrators who currently lead or plan to lead emergency departments. Attendees join from hospitals around the world. The course is taught in English.

Social Events

In addition to interacting with others within the classroom, Leadership Essentials students have the opportunity to network at social events during the course. Social events are included in the course registration fee and include a Monday night welcome reception and the Wednesday night gala dinner.
